Visual Arts

Shared responsibility, accountability and collaboration

Students from Prep to Year 6 will participate in 1 hour weekly Visual Arts sessions. Our art studio is a creative and vibrant space where students feel comfortable to create and express their ideas and processes. During our sessions we will support students to work safely, respect each other and take responsibility for their learning.

The Visual Arts curriculum aims to develop students’:

  • Ideas and expressions through design and inquiry processes
  • Visual arts techniques, materials and processes
  • Critical and creative thinking, using visual arts languages
  •  Respect for the diverse roles, innovations, traditions, histories and cultures of artists
  • Respect for visual arts as social and cultural practices
  • Confidence, curiosity, imagination and enjoyment and a personal aesthetic through engagement with visual arts making, viewing, discussing, analysing, interpreting and evaluating.

We expect our students to:

  • Participate in our sessions respectfully and take responsibility for their learning
  • Follow our agreed upon Art Studio expectations
  • Attend sessions with a positive attitude and a growth mindset
