Performing Arts

Shared responsibility, accountability and collaboration

The Prep to Grade 6 students will participate in a Performing Arts session once a week as part of the Enrichment Program. Our performing arts room offers a creative space for students to express themselves through drama, music, and dance.

The Performing Arts program will:

  • Promote confidence building activities through group work and independent work.
  • Enhance students’ ability to express themselves through music, drama, and dance.
  • Build students confidence to be creative, innovative, thoughtful, skilful, and informed individuals.
  • Promote skills to listen, improvise, compose, interpret, perform, and respond with intent and purpose.

In Drama:

  • Encourage students to use their voice through character development and performance.
  • Create a sense of curiosity and enjoyment through exploring different roles as both audience and performer.

In Music:

  • Expose students to a variety of handheld and percussion instruments including the djembe.
  • Allow students to develop a knowledge of reading, writing, and composing music.

In Dance:

  • Enhance aesthetic, artistic, and cultural understandings of dance in past and contemporary context.
  • Nurture a respect for diverse purposes, traditions, histories, and cultures of dance.

Expectations:

  • All students to wear clothing that they can move comfortably in.
  • To respect the P.A room, the equipment and one another.
  • To always have a go at participating in the P.A program and to try their best!
