Performing Arts
Shared responsibility, accountability and collaboration
The Prep to Grade 6 students will participate in a Performing Arts session once a week as part of the Enrichment Program. Our performing arts room offers a creative space for students to express themselves through drama, music, and dance.
The Performing Arts program will:
- Promote confidence building activities through group work and independent work.
- Enhance students’ ability to express themselves through music, drama, and dance.
- Build students confidence to be creative, innovative, thoughtful, skilful, and informed individuals.
- Promote skills to listen, improvise, compose, interpret, perform, and respond with intent and purpose.
In Drama:
- Encourage students to use their voice through character development and performance.
- Create a sense of curiosity and enjoyment through exploring different roles as both audience and performer.
In Music:
- Expose students to a variety of handheld and percussion instruments including the djembe.
- Allow students to develop a knowledge of reading, writing, and composing music.
In Dance:
- Enhance aesthetic, artistic, and cultural understandings of dance in past and contemporary context.
- Nurture a respect for diverse purposes, traditions, histories, and cultures of dance.
Expectations:
- All students to wear clothing that they can move comfortably in.
- To respect the P.A room, the equipment and one another.
- To always have a go at participating in the P.A program and to try their best!
